Abstract

Background: Hyperglycemia is frequentlyobserved in the setting of an acute ischemicstroke and may reflect both pre-existing
diabetes and an acute stress response. Increasedglucose levels have been associated with moresevere neurological damage and worseoutcomes, but the association between specific glycemic parameters and early neurologicalimprovement is still clinically relevant.
