Abstract

Background:Type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) ischaracterized by insulin resistance, progressive pancreatic β-cell dysfunction, and impaired regulation of hepatic glucoseproduction. Skeletal muscle and the liverserve as primary organs governing peripheralglucose clearance and endogenous glucoseoutput, respectively.
