Abstract

Background: Chronic post-surgical pain is among the dominant issues of post-surgery complications that may persist after a period of several months and impact the daily functioning, sleep patterns, and quality of life negatively. The clinical problem is linked to the guard of the transition relationship between acute postoperative pain and chronic pain despite the efforts to develop better methods of managing the former. Ketamine at low dosage with its anti hyperalgesic and opioid-sparing effect has become a promising adjunctive agent that could improve the results of postoperative pain.
